Seetha Ramachandra swamy temple, Ammapalli, Hyderabad, India

Ammapalli is a village under Shamshabad district in Hyderabad. There is an ancient seetha ramachandra swamy temple, (which is also known as Ammapalli temple) which is known to be around 800 years old.  I visited this temple upon recommendation by my neighbour. This is a very good and must visit temple. It is really wonderful to visit such a nice, peaceful temple in Hyderabad.

The temple is around 30 KM from the city and 5 KM from shamshabad bus stop. Temple is open from 6am to 1pm and further opens in the evening at 3pm and closes at 8pm. Temple premises is very neatly maintained. There is ample space for parking vehicles before the temple.

There are two priests in the temple. They are very humble and conducting their daily chores with lot of interest on god. Daily poojas are conducted in a very traditional manner. There are two small shops available near the temple with pooja items and eateries for sale.

As per the temple priests, this place was part of dandakaranyam, where seetha, rama and lakshman were staying during vanavasam. This temple idols belong Chalukya’s period which is almost 800 years ago. Each idol has separate arch (Thiruvachi) and made up of single stone. Further, Hanuman idol is not find in the garbhalayam and Rama is holding a bow in right hand. Hence, Rama situated here is known as Kodanda rama. Rama is known as kodanda rama till the time he met Anjaneya in Ramayana. As hanuman is not situated in the garbhalayam, Hanuman idol is located just below the dvajasthabham.

Here, devotees can have darshan of dasavatarams of Lord Vishnu, as dasavatarams are sculptured on the arch of the Rama idol. This is one of the fewest temples of kodanda rama with dasavatharams.

Temple gopuram is very nicely built in rajasthani style. Deities present in the temple are Rama, seetha and lakshmanaswamy.

Once you enter inside the temple after crossing the gopuram, you will feel a pleasant atmosphere. On your right side, you can see steps to climb up the rajagopuram.
